DEMERIT POINTS CHART

Demerit Points

UNDERSTANDING DEMERIT POINTS

Ontario uses a system whereas you start with 0 points associated with your license.  Each time you are convicted of an offence, the following demerit points are applied to your license.

If you've been charged with an offence, refer to the chart below to determine the associated demerit points.

Remember: your demerit points and your insurance rates are two very different things; even if you have been charged with an offence that carries 0 demerit points, your insurance rates may still increase.  Be sure to contact Hammuri Solutions Paralegal to determine how these systems interact, and what the real costs are if you plead guilty to a Highway Traffic Act Offence.

Search Tip: Search by your provision/section number, rather than the description of offence the officer wrote on your ticket.

If the offence isn't listed - there are no points associated with the charge.
